So, there’s my spanking new iPad freshly arrived from the states, and so far I’m very impressed:
Build quality and software; in-line with the original iPhone, solid, slick and with a few features lacking which may be addressed by the forthcoming OS 4.0 update before the device even launches in the UK.
iBooks application needs you to use a US iTunes card or US credit card to download (who knows when the book store will arrive here) but works well and is amazingly slick. certainly more impressive than my old Sony Reader! PDF support is currently through the excellent GoodReader app (59p) with books/docs loaded through iTunes or sideloaded via WiFi (goodreader not iBooks)
Games are already looking impressive and the likes of HarbourMaster and Air Hockey proving that screen size makes all the difference.
Browsing and email is a joy, Air video (dual binary still awaiting approval) work beautifully even up-rezed from the iPhone version, negating some of the need for local storage (I went for the 16GB version)
Now we wait for UK release info and pricing…
